Submitted 2012-03-30 07:21:20 | Recent years have witnessed a major paradigm shift of computing from stationary devices called PC including desktop & laptop towards mobile devices. These mobile devices differ from traditional stationary devices in several major ways. Including from form factors, activities, inputs, outputs, sensors, networks, Eco-systems and software environments. One major shift is also seen in computer graphics technology. There are a lot of tutorials available which can give a broader view on this. Those courses have two major aims, technically and mentality. On the technical side, they emphasize both mobile and interactive aspects. They cover the practical aspects of mobile computing, including the Android platform that is not only popular but also open source. The development part will cover a variety of important subjects in computer science, including parallel computing platform, user interface, graphics, multimedia, network, sensors, database and software engineering, all wrapped up under a practical subjects on interactive mobile computing.
On the graphics end, the digital world is witnessing a major makeover. From the basic question of what is graphics card, we can see that there are now parallel computing platforms for mobile devices. NVIDIA plans to offer CUDA architecture on their upcoming Tegra System on a chip for mobile devices along with the all their offerings. And what is CUDA? It is a C language environment that aides software developers to write programs for solving complex computational problems using parallel processing power of multi core GPU. Having the knowledge of what is GPU, a new computer architecture based on GPUs and other types of parallel processors that work together with the conventional CPUs is emerging. The CPU is excellent for sequential processing, but there are many types of problems that we can operate on in parallel. NVIDIA is working with applications developers to port their software to the CUDA architecture. It has already made CUDA available for free. After the arrival of Tegra, it has come up with something new Mobile graphics technology.
The NVIDIA Quadro Mobile Workstation product family is a complete top-to-bottom range of solutions with the unmatched performance and quality for the most demanding professionals on the go. From digital content creators on a movie set, to design engineers at a remote plant, to Geo-scientist on an oil rig, Quadro mobile graphics processing units GPUs) are the most trusted solutions for professional 3D applications. In the mobile graphics technology, the latest NVIDIA Quadro mobile professional graphics are true technological breakthroughs. They feature up to 4 GB of graphics memory and 384 CUDA cores. They are built on the innovative NVIDIA Fermi architecture which offers a high performance computing capabilities with advanced visualization thus transforming the new laptop in to a mobile super computer. The mobile workstations by Dell, Fujitsu, HP and Lenovo are powered by Quadro. | Author Resource: Ansh is the author of this article on parallel computing platform.
